In this mortal realm, an astrologer’s foremost priority when evaluating a horoscope is to determine whether the native possesses sufficient longevity to enjoy the promised benefits. Likewise, in the context of horoscope matching, the astrologer’s primary responsibility is to carefully assess the lifespan of both partners. Only thereafter does one consider the influence of divine grace.

In the SundarKand of Valmiki Ramayana, it is said: "A living person can see hundreds of good things.

"All beings and things are forms of God Himself. Understanding that God is present in every form, whatever comes before us – whether living or non-living – we should bow to it with full devotion, seeing it as God. But how does lifespan actually increase?

The practical answer to this is given in Manu Smriti:-

i) For a person who regularly bows to others and always serves elders with respect, four things grow: lifespan, knowledge, fame, and strength. Why should we bow to all beings?

ii) The answer comes from Srimad Bhagavatam: "The sky, air, fire, water, earth, planets and stars, all living beings, the directions, trees and plants, rivers and oceans – whatever exists and has a form in this world is the body of Shri Hari. One should bow to all of them with undivided devotion."

iii) One name for ghee from a (desi) cow is also "Āyu" – ' 'आयुर्वै घृतम्'। . Therefore, a person who consumes milk and ghee from a cow becomes long-lived. If the lifeline (āyurekha) in palmistry is broken, then one should use ghee from a cow and perform worship of the cow.

iv) The hump (kakud, or kūbaḍ) on the back of a desi cow is 'Bṛhaspati'. Therefore, if in the birth chart Bṛhaspati is in its debilitated sign Makara (Capricorn) or in an inauspicious position, one should have darshan of this Bṛhaspati part (the hump) of the desi cow and of the kakud which is in the form of a Śivaliṅga.

 v) Also offer roṭi to the cow after placing jaggery (guḍ) and chana dal on it.11- In the eyes of Gomātā reside Lord Sūrya in the form of light and Candradeva, the presiding deity of moonlight.

If Sūrya-Chandra are weak in the birth chart, then one should have darshan of the cow's eyes; benefit will be obtained.

Astrology also advises avoiding certain actions that reduce lifespan: -

i) Using oil (eating or applying) on the Shasthi tithi, eating meat on the Astami tithi, getting a haircut on the Chaturdashi tithi, and having sexual relations on Amavasya (new moon day)

sages say these things shorten a person’s life.  In summary, if a person sincerely follows the guidelines of astrology and lives accordingly, they can truly enjoy the real happiness of life.

When we pray to God with devotion, our mistakes and wrongdoings are washed away, and we become ready to receive his kindness and blessings. That is why temples have always followed the practice of doing daily prayers and holding special festivals throughout the year.

When we visit a temple, we should also follow some basic traditional rules. This includes dressing properly, putting the correct religious marks on our forehead, fasting on Ekadasi days when we can, and behaving with respect. These simple habits help keep the place of worship pure and make our own spiritual connection stronger. The Vishnu Sahasranama says that among all good actions, proper conduct (called Āchāra) is the highest.

Our daily behaviour and lifestyle should follow the rules given in the holy scriptures. God, who protects righteousness, gives His blessings to those who live by these guidelines. Following proper conduct clears away the darkness and laziness inside us and helps goodness and clarity grow, bringing peace and purity to our minds.

The idols in temples, when properly installed and worshipped according to the rules, carry the same divine power as God in heaven.

In the same way, the prayers we do at home- if done honestly and as per the scriptures- bring good fortune and all kinds of benefits.

Just having good feelings is not enough; We need to make the real effort to follow the right methods.

We should not change these practices to make them easier or more convenient for ourselves.

We must follow them with care and sincerity.
