Astrology (Jyotish/Vidya SamayVidya) is the inseparable aspect of Sanatan Dharma and this vidya has a goal in spiritual realization of highest reality. As Kaal (Time) moves ahead, so does nature move with time. Sage Parashar is the main pillar of Jyotish vidya who has given the magnum opus Brihat Parashar Hora Shastra.
Vedic Jyotish is as old as civilization and the Hindu sages Parashar, Varahamihira etc. have achieved these triumphs long ago and without any margin of error. Needless to say but seems pertinent to highlight that - Vedic Astrology is the oldest work on astronomy and astrology available in the library of the world .
Sage Parashar was a precocious child. He received Lord Shiva’s boon and guided by his grandfather Vashishtha he became quite learned. In no time he mastered not only the Vedic scriptures but also developed the discretion to sift what is good and what is bad for an individual.
My salutation and deep respect to Sage Parashar who has recorded innumerable astrological aphorisms for the benefit of mankind. Sage Parashar Ji said that Lord Vishnu incarnated as Nava Grahas to bestow on the living beings the results due to their karmas.
Shri Vishnu is Janardana. He assumed the auspicious form of Grahas to destroy the demons or evil forces and sustain the divine beings.
(Brihat Parashar Hora Shastra )
There is a Sanskrit sloka in Parashar Geeta -''पराश्रणाति पापातीति पराशर:'' प्रणाम्यहम् महर्षि पराशर This means those who dissipate all sins and heat just by darshan/remembrance are Parashar. Thus by mere remembrance of the name of Sage Parashar one becomes pure.
